DRAINAGE
After a heavy shower of rain, you may find some water lying in the bottom of your door and window frames. This is nothing to worry about, as this will drain away through the drainage holes in the base.
LEAD WORK
When this process is complete, the lead will be a dark grey in colour and no longer stain, as with any new lead work, when exposed to rain it will start an oxidation process, which shows as white or mottled staining on the lead work. This process will take a few months to complete.
LOCKS
Three times a year or more, spray '3 in 1 spray oil' into all the locks and to any metal to metal contact surfaces around your door and windows. This will help to keep them operating smoothly.
CLEANING PVC FRAMES
Never use anything abrasive, this will scratch the surface which will trap the dirt. Wash the frames with a mild solution of washing-up liquid. If any stubborn marks remain, lightly rub with Jif creme cleaner. DO NOT use Jif on every occasion, as this will remove the shine from the PVC.
GLASS
Any type of glass cleaner is suitable, except where Rytec Clearshield has been used or where any self-cleaning glass has been installed refer to manufactures instructions.
BUILDING WORK - CONSERVATORY BASES ETC ...
As with any new building work, a period of 'drying out' is necessary. Please ensure maximum air circulation and ventilation during this time to assist the process. To test if the floor is 'dry' lay a square of carpet on the floor overnight. If the floor is dry when the carpet is lifted, the process is complete. NEVER be tempted to use electric or gas fires to speed the 'drying out', as this is dangerous.
DOORS
To ensure a draught free door, please remember to keep the door in locked position. This will achieve a tight fit on to the draught seals.
CARE - FINISH
To maintain the high quality finish of our products, we recommend wiping it with a clean cloth soaked in warm water and mild detergent every month. Moving parts should be lightly lubricated three times a year. We live in a high salt area, therefore all parts of your new windows and doors should be cleaned regularly to assist in avoiding damage.
Please see our guarantee or terms and conditions, should you require any information.
